What is high-definition liposuction?
Liposuction improves body contour by removing fat deposits that do not respond to diet or exercise. It is performed with a cannula, a thin tube connected to a suction device that removes fat cells.

Before suctioning, the area is infiltrated with a tumescent solution, a mix of saline, local anesthetic, and epinephrine. This reduces bleeding, makes fat easier to remove, and lessens discomfort, bruising, and swelling after surgery. There are different techniques: traditional liposuction, which suctions fat directly, and ultrasound-assisted liposuction, which uses ultrasonic energy to emulsify fat before it is removed. High-definition (HD) and soft-definition liposuction take things further. Beyond reducing volume, they selectively sculpt fat around muscle contours, for example on the abdomen, so your natural anatomy shows more. Common areas include the abdomen, waist and flanks, back, arms, thighs, knees, calves, ankles, chin, and neck. Liposuction is not a weight-loss method, and on its own it does not fix loose skin.
Who is it for?
Liposuction is for people close to their ideal weight who have localized fat and good skin elasticity. HD liposuction is usually best for patients who already have a good muscle base and low body fat and want that definition to show.
