What is non-surgical facial rejuvenation?

Not every sign of aging is about sagging. Often what shows most is skin quality: fine lines around the eyes and mouth, uneven texture, acne scars and sun spots. A facelift does not fix these because they live in the surface of the skin. That is where non-surgical facial rejuvenation comes in.

The main tool is laser resurfacing, such as Erbium or carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers. These devices remove or heat thin layers of damaged skin in a controlled way, which stimulates collagen and the growth of new, smoother, more even skin. The result is softer lines around the eyes and mouth, less visible scars and fewer areas of hyperpigmentation.

Treatment intensity is tailored to each case. A deeper treatment achieves more change in one session but needs more downtime; a lighter one may require several sessions. Depending on your goals, it can be combined with chemical peels, botulinum toxin or fillers.

Results are long-lasting, but treatment does not stop the aging process: skin keeps changing over the years and new lines can form. Sun protection and a consistent skin care routine are the best way to preserve the improvement, and maintenance sessions may be recommended depending on how your skin responds.

It suits people who want to improve texture, tone and fine lines without surgery, or who want to complement a facelift or eyelid surgery. It works especially well for fine wrinkles, sun damage, pigmentation and superficial scars, particularly around the eyes and mouth.

It is not a substitute for surgery when there is significant laxity. Skin type also affects the risk of discoloration after laser, so your surgeon will assess it carefully before recommending a treatment. If you are traveling to Mexico City, keep in mind that about two weeks of downtime and strict sun protection afterward are part of the plan.
