What is injectables and biostimulators?

Dermal fillers are injectable products that restore volume beneath the skin. The most widely used is hyaluronic acid, a substance your body makes naturally that helps skin hold water and stay plump. As a filler, it comes as a gel that can replace volume lost with age, soften wrinkles and folds such as smile lines, and enhance or balance features like the cheeks, chin, jawline, and lips. Results are immediate and, depending on the product and area, usually last from several months to about a year and a half.

A key advantage of hyaluronic acid is that it is temporary: your body gradually absorbs it, and if needed it can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. That is a major reason it is considered one of the safest fillers. Permanent fillers, by contrast, stay in the tissue for good and can cause reactions that are difficult to treat without surgery, so they should not be chosen lightly.

Biostimulators, or collagen stimulators, work differently. Substances such as calcium hydroxylapatite and poly-L-lactic acid, among others, prompt your body to produce new collagen over time. Rather than filling a specific line, they improve firmness and skin quality over the following weeks and typically require more than one session.

Both can be combined with each other or with botulinum toxin, depending on what each area of the face needs. It is best to use only approved products with a solid clinical track record.

Who is it for?

Hyaluronic acid fillers are a good fit if you notice volume loss in your face, deep folds, thin lips, or features you would like to define, and you want an immediate result without surgery. Biostimulators are often chosen when the main concern is mild laxity or a loss of firmness and skin quality. Because recovery is minimal, these treatments fit easily into a short trip to Mexico City, though biostimulators may need a return visit.
