Luciano Ríos Lara

Dr. Luciano Ríos Lara trained at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where from his earliest years he worked as a teaching assistant in Anatomy. That is where he developed the knowledge of, and the taste for, mastering every region of the body that guides his practice today.

Training

He continued his clinical training at Hospital General de México, the largest and most important hospital in the country and in Latin America, and completed his general medical training with his social service year in Moyahua, Zacatecas, where he was recognized as the state's top graduating physician.

Back in Mexico City he completed two years of General Surgery at the same institution and then earned a place, by competitive examination, in the Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery residency, where he trained for four years. During that time he was named Chief Resident of the Plastic Surgery Service and Chief Resident of all of Hospital General de México, coordinating more than 1,100 physicians in training.

Continuing education

He has continued training abroad with courses in breast surgery in Canada, facial surgery in New York and facial skeletal surgery in Miami, along with national and international conferences. He considers himself passionate about learning and continuous improvement, and brings current, safe techniques to his patients.

Practice and teaching

On his return he was invited to join the attending staff of the Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Service at Hospital General de México, where he continues to practice and has gained experience with complex patients and diagnoses, in both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. He joined as Education Coordinator of the institution's advanced specialty program, helping train plastic surgery residents.

Today he is a university professor for UNAM in the Plastic Surgery program at Hospital General de México, one of the most important in the country, and a speaker at national and international panels.

His private practice is at Hospital Ángeles Clínica Londres, where he is known for his responsibility and consistency in patient care. It spans the different areas of plastic surgery: facial, body, after massive weight loss and after cancer surgery, among others.

He is a physician committed to the specialty, to his own training and to the training of new specialists, staying current so his patients get safe techniques and up-to-date technology.
